Audio Connector
The Industrial Edge app Audio Connector offers the possibility to connect several different USB audio input devices to an Industrial Edge device and to make the audio data available on the Industrial Edge data bus.
Individually superimposed audio analysis apps can then be developed to analyze the audio data.
The Audio Connector app is part of the Connectivity Suite and can be configured via the 'IIH (Industrial Information Hub) Configurator'. Furthermore the Audio Connector is compatible to the existing Industrial Edge Connectors, e.g. SIMATIC S7 Connector, OPC Connector, Modbus TCP Connector, Ethernet/IP Connector, etc.

With the Industrial Edge app Audio Connector, the audio data of the plants can be recorded and made available via the Industrial Edge data bus, from where it can be processed by other apps into meaningful key data.
The Audio Connector is based on PortAudio and the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA), and therefore supports various standard USB input devices (e.g. microphones, headsets, external sound cards, etc.).

Through higher-level acquisition of KPI data, recording and storage of audio files, or other audio analysis methods such as a classification into healthy and unhealthy sound, the states of various assets can be automatically monitored and evaluated.
The Audio Connector can be configured using the Connectivity Suite and the corresponding configurator (IIH Configurator).
Specifically for the Audio Connector, the configuration includes the following settings:
The name of the audio device as it is displayed in the host operating system
The sampling rate of the device
The number of audio samples to be included in each message ("buffer size")
The bit depth/resolution of the audio data
The maximum number of channels to which the device can be connected
